I’m a torchaholic and have had lots of torches over the years. The HID era was exciting and produced many great torches. The LEDs have taken over from them and there are many claiming to be the world’s brightest torch. At this time I think the SR32 really does deserve that title, at least in terms of total brightness (and for the torches I can find). I have a windmill probably (I think) about 1km away and this lights it. My huge HID also did (and was the only torch I’ve had that would – it’s my benchmark) but with a more focussed beam, the SR32 lit a lot of the whole paddock as well. An LEP in the centre of one of these would have everything.
There are other great features : the fan, the stepping power, the readout, the heat control, etc.
